The Plan

The plan is to ride across the Canadian North on my 2008 Buell XB12X Motorcycle.

The Participants in this adventure will be Myself:  Matt… hi, and my fiancée: Martine.

You can click on the map and pics to zoom into them.

The route is starting from Montreal, Quebec, Canada and heading North-East through New Brunswick around the Baie des Chaleur to Newport in the Gaspe Peninsula where we will spend a week Scuba diving with friends at thier summer home. Then we begin to head north, across the St-Laurance Seaway from Matane to Baie-Comeau, and straight up highway 389 to Manic-Cinq, and onwards to Fermont. At Fermont we will be staying with another frind of mine for 2 days. Then we head East into Labrador passing Labrador city, and heading to Churchill falls, and then to Goose Bay Happy Vally. The next day we continue on to Cartwright via the new extention to the Trans Labrador Highway (TLH). We spend the night at Cartwright, and the following day we press on to Blanc-Sablon where the road ends. After spending the night here we will take a 2.5 day cargo ship called the Relais Nordik, packing in the motorcycle in a cargo container and head for Natashquan. Fom there we begin our return home to Longueuil.

Here is our trip Schedule

The steed for this adventure is my 2008 Buell XB12X. I purchased this amazing cycle in March 2010 in Rimouski, and it is a very impressive piece of American engineering. With the fuel tank beeing inside the Frame, the Oil pan in the rear swingarm, the muffler centered under the engine, a massive circumferential (is that a word?) front brake, massive Harly-Davidson Thunderstorm 1203cc engine, tight wheelbase, and aggressive 21 degree rake, this bike is incredibly nimble and feels much lighter than it’s 270kg mass would have you beleive.

Here is a pic of my bike after completing the BMW offroad riding class. It rained all day! Notice the street tires, these are now gone. And the spare gas can held behind my licenc plates.
